ABOUT THE EP
The EP was recorded one evening in Jon’s Dad’s living room and it features three Christmas classics as well as an original Christmas song written by Colleen.  The recordings are raw and real—just a couple mics and acoustic guitars—which gives the impression that Jon and Colleen are playing directly to you in the comfort of your own living room!  It is highly recommended that you purchase the EP and then listen to it next to a crackling fire!  :)

As you know, The Material is completely independent, so your purchasing of this album really helps us continue to stay on the road and make new music.  We appreciate your support more than you could ever know!

We’re currently in the studio demoing some new music.  It sounds really awesome and we’re very excited about it!  We hope you’ll enjoy it.  :)  In the meantime, I thought I would show you the studio where we’re tracking.  It’s called Orbit Audio and it’s located in Downtown Seattle, Washington.  We recorded drums and guitars here and then moved to another studio to record bass, vocals, and all the keys and extra stuff.  We have another day in the studio, then we’re moving back to California for the holidays.

REMINDERS:
- Homecoming show in San Diego, CA on Saturday, December 5 at Soma.  It’s our first time headlining, so please come out and bring all your friends.  We’re going to be playing some of these new, unheard songs for the first time in front of a crowd!

- Co and Jon’s acoustic Christmas CD, which is titled ”An Acoustic Christmas with Colleen and Jon of The Material”, will be available for download this Tuesday, November 24 on most digital stores (iTunes, Napster, Amazon MP3, etc).  The track listing is as follows:  ”Silent Night”, “O Night Divine”, “What Child is This”, and an original titled “It Doesn’t Feel Like Christmas”.  The four songs were self-produced and are really stripped down (just acoustic guitar, vocals, and a few mics), and we imagine they would sound best next to a nice crackling fire.  :)  Thanks in advance for any support you throw our way; it helps us continue to create music for a living and we greatly appreciate it!

OOOO MMMM GGGG!   We totally dropped the blogging ball.  Last you heard from us, we were sailing the treacherous waters of Niagara Falls (see the vlog post below).  Well, a lot has happened since…

We wrapped up our nationwide tour with our great friends Blameshift.  The tour was very fun and successful, and we met a ton of great people!  Thanks again to everyone who came out to the shows and supported us.  Please continue to spread the word to all your friends about us; it would be much appreciated!

Anyway, after tour we spent a week back in Southern California.  It was a great opportunity to catch up with family and friends and to get our last view of San Diego for some time.  We set our sights on Salem and made the 17 hour drive up the coast.

Oregon is beautiful and we are really enjoying the change in scenery and weather.  We decided to make the move to Oregon for a number of reasons…  Mostly though, after traveling the nation multiple times and seeing a variety of landscapes, we realized that Portland was one of our favorite cities.  The fall weather—something that Southern California doesn’t really offer—creates a FANTASTIC writing environment.  We feel very inspired and we’re excited about this writing process.

Speaking of the writing process…  We just moved into a rehearsal studio in Portland earlier this week.  The songs are coming along.  It’s still a little early in the game, but I can say that I think the next album will be a bit heavier.  We shall see.  :)

This blog will turn from THE MATERIAL TOUR BLOG to THE MATERIAL STUDIO BLOG and we will seriously do our best to keep it updated with videos, pictures, words, and perhaps some music (you know, since we’re a band and all).

Gotta go right now.  We’re going to watch Interview with a Vampire and then some of the Harry Potters.  Tomorrow we’re carving pumpkins and watching Hocus Pocus.  Then, we’re back in the studio on Monday.  Send us some messages or tweets.  :)

Love,
The Material
